For Week 10’s creative assignment COMPOSE, I have zero music talent and needed a good laugh from the incoming finals stress, so here we are.



PROCESS



This week I was feeling really stressed and the only album that I listen to is The Head Hurts but the Heart Knows the Truth by Headache/Vegyn, which is a combination of slow techno beats and spoken words. So I sampled my favorite video This is Hiphop and created this.

I don’t know much about music so I started with cutting up the phrases from this is hiphop and preloaded them. 



I referenced Ellen‘s sketch on Melody with Steps and Leaps and used the Oscillator to generate sounds of different frequency.



I then mapped it to the canvas so the frequency changes with height of my mouse, I also added reverb to have more echo and make it sound more etheral. I used a for loop to play each of the sound samples with keys 1-7.




Finally,  I adde delay to the sounds so they are not looping right after one another.




It’s been really fun and it gave me a good laugh but I also realized how little I know about music.
